YOUTH NEWS!

Next meeting:  Sunday May 6 after church

We need to discuss what we could do for the remainder of this school year, as well as look ahead to the summer and fall so preparations can be made.

Best Gift Toy Shopping

For the seventh year, the youth group  collected and raised money for the Best Gift fund.  This fund was started by the youth because they realized that needy children often get second hand toys at Christmas.  They wanted to get these kids some new toys, so they decided to raise money and go shopping for toys and donate them to Sun Youth. We had a lot of fun shopping for the toys, and they were brought to Sun Youth.  Thanks to all who supported us.  This year 100% of the money raised at our Advent Concert in November went to this fund, as well as money donated later. The total was over $680.

A wonderful time was had by all at the Youth Reunion at Trinity on May 19th, 2002, the day after the Rosemount High School reunion.  Thanks to all who participated and helped with refreshments, etc.  If you have any pictures from the day, please send scans to Gary

The youth reunion brought back memories of past youth groups at Trinity.  We're gathering pictures, so if you have any pictures of youth groups at Trinity, please e-mail them to Gary

Trinity Youth Group Annual Report 2006

Good day faithful readers of the Annual Report! Come, reminisce with us over the past year’s events.

In the cold and dark days of February, we sought to liven things up with a Rock ‘n Roll Night. We had a good time.

Very early on Easter Sunday morning, we rose with the sun and started the grills. The Easter Breakfast was a big success and the youth group thanks the congregation for its support.

Every now and then, the members of the youth group need to let off some steam. In response, the leaders, Sheri Cameron and Gary Tompkins, devised an intricate set of challenges that led us throughout the city. Many lessons were learned that day, including; directions, teamwork, the importance of appropriate footwear, and patience. But, most importantly of all, we discovered that having fun holds more value than winning or losing. We shall always remember this experience to be the day that was named…: The Amazing (G)race.

Having run out of time on the day of the event, the celebratory dinner was held a month later. It was then decided by our leaders (by a questionably elaborate process…) that there was a three-way tie.

Garbed in wedding wear, a portion of the youth group set off on their annual vegetable hunt for the Thanksgiving display. After church Thanksgiving Sunday, the food was donated to Auberge Madeleine.

In order to raise money for the Best Gift Fund this year, we held a spaghetti dinner with entertainment. There were a few interesting bloopers in the program for the evening (and more than a little sauce splattered), but overall, the event was a success. All of the money raised through this and additional donations was used to buy new toys for underprivileged children at Christmas from JRC.

And, as in most years around Christmas time, the youth group and Sunday School joined together to perform a seasonal play. The pageant, directed by Sheri Cameron went without a hitch, as all were well rehearsed and ready with their lines. Hey everyone, thanks for your hard work!

We the youth group would also like to thank the congregation for their ongoing support.
